Recovery Planning
What to Expect
Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) is central to our approach to treating substance use and co-occurring disorders. MET is designed to improve treatment engagement and outcomes by tapping into each person’s internal motivations to help them move forward in their recovery. MET honors the power in every person and supports their right to live a self-determined life.
Root Center recognizes the importance of meeting each person where they are at in their recovery, and the stages of change for each patient are noted in our treatment planning process. Your counselor will help you explore your strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences (SNAP), and guide you in choosing a treatment regimen that is right for you.
Treatment plans are collaboratively completed with the client at the initial diagnostic evaluation with a master’s-level counselor. At this appointment, your clinician will discuss your presenting concerns, family history, and needs, and will help you develop treatment goals.
Physical examinations are scheduled for methadone maintenance treatment clients. Toxicology screening may also be done at your intake and throughout your treatment process. Screenings are an important tool in helping to assess your progress in treatment and giving you the structure and active feedback needed for sustained success.
