Dr. Leonard Lev

Medical Director

Dr. Leonard Lev is certified by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, The American Board of Addiction Medicine and by The American Board of Preventive Medicine in the subspecialty of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Lev completed his psychiatry residency training at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Cornell in 2000, where he served as a Chief Resident and received Cornell Alumni Award of Excellence.

In following years, Dr. Lev served as Unit Chief of Addiction Medicine and Eating Disorders at NY Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell, Westchester. In 2005 Dr. Lev moved to Connecticut and joined Connecticut Valley Hospital where he served as a Medical Director of the Addiction Services Division at Connecticut Valley Hospital for 9 years and later as a Principal Psychiatrist of the Traumatic Brain Injury Unit. After leaving state service, Dr. Lev served as Attending Psychiatrist at The Institute of Living, Hartford Healthcare until October 2017 when he accepted the position of a Medical Director of the Root Center for Advanced Recovery.

Aside from clinical appointments, since 2007 Dr. Lev is co-founder and Medical Director of Specialized Behavioral Care, LLC in Glastonbury, CT where he is providing psychiatric treatment to adults and adolescents with a variety of mental illnesses. Dr. Leonard Lev held appointments as Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell School of Medicine and UCONN.

As the Root Center for Advanced Recovery’s Medical Director and active attending psychiatrist, he is a clinical supervisor for the psychiatry residents and fellows training in Addiction Medicine. Dr. Lev brings to his role as our Medical Director his extensive professional experience and knowledge of the particular services that are adapted to meet the unique needs of the clients Root Center for Advanced Recovery is committed to serving.
