Dr. Leonard Lev is certified by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, The American Board of Addiction Medicine and The American Board of Preventive Medicine in the subspecialty of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Lev completed his psychiatry residency training at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Cornell in 2000, where he served as a Chief Resident and received the Cornell Alumni Award of Excellence. In the following years, Dr. Lev served as Unit Chief of Addiction Medicine and Eating Disorders at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Cornell, Westchester.
In 2005, Dr. Lev moved to Connecticut and joined Connecticut Valley Hospital, where he was the Medical Director of the Addiction Services division at Connecticut Valley Hospital for nine years and later as a principal psychiatrist of the Traumatic Brain Injury Unit. After leaving state service, Dr. Lev served as attending psychiatrist at The Institute of Living, Hartford Healthcare until October 2017 when he accepted the position of Medical Director at the Root Center.
As the Root Center’s Medical Director and active attending psychiatrist, he is a clinical supervisor for the psychiatry residents and fellows training in addiction medicine. Dr. Lev brings extensive professional experience and knowledge of the particular services that are adapted to meet the unique needs of the clients the Root Center is committed to serving.
Dr. Lev is also the cofounder and Medical Director of Specialized Behavioral Care, LLC., in Glastonbury, Connecticut, where he provides psychiatric treatment to adults and adolescents with a variety of mental illnesses. Dr. Lev has held appointments as an assistant professor in psychiatry at Weill Cornell School of Medicine and UCONN.
