Ben Metcalf

CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER

Ben Metcalf, LCSW, is the Chief Operations Officer at the Root Center for Advanced Recovery. He is responsible for the planning and strategic operations under the direction of the CEO, Board of Directors, and works in concert with the other members of the executive leadership team.


Ben also oversees the integrated delivery of services to patients across all agency programs. He provides clinical oversight to ensure our services meet the needs of our patient population, and that quality standards of care are consistent with evidence-based practices.

Ben comes to us from Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center where he had been employed for the last 15 years, with the last 11 as Program Director. He was responsible for overseeing their vast array of behavioral health services in a federally qualified health care (FQHC) setting, including methadone maintenance treatment services, inpatient withdrawal management, outpatient behavioral health services, and an integrated primary care program. He also has experience as an administrator overseeing PHP/IOP and residential programs, procurement/management of grants, establishing innovative programming and implementing best practices.


Ben also serves as an Adjunct Faculty member at Southern Connecticut State University Department of Social Work in New Haven, Connecticut. The courses he facilitates specialize in the treatment of co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. In his roles as an administrator and educator, he has established MSW internship programs that have successfully helped students integrate theory with practice in co-occurring clinical settings.
