Medication Mangement
Psychiatric Medication Management
Root Center for Advanced Recovery is committed to treating the whole person and fostering wellness in multiple spheres of our clients’ lives. Psychiatric medications can play an important role in a client’s comprehensive treatment plan as they help clients to manage symptoms, improve mood, and increase overall life quality. Medication management is an outpatient treatment modality where the client meets with a licensed prescriber to evaluate the possible need for psychotropic medications to reduce symptoms and improve wellness. Root Center’s experienced prescribers are here to support clients in understanding their options and choosing a comprehensive care plan that meets their needs.
What to Expect
Medication management involves an initial evaluation with a skilled prescriber, where clients will discuss symptoms, share their medical and family history, explore treatment options, and determine if psychotropic medications are right for them. The doctor will explain what each medication does, outline possible side effects, and discuss the benefits and possible negative outcomes associated with each medication option. The prescriber will then follow up with the client during regular medication management sessions to assess the effectiveness of the psychotropic medication regimen and determine if any adjustments to the treatment regimen would be beneficial. The prescriber will listen carefully to the client’s concerns and experiences, and work with the client to find the best dosage and medication combination for them.
Psychotropic medications are used as a tool in conjunction with other treatment modalities to support each client in their wellness journey. Clients will often also be enrolled in individual therapy, group therapy, or the intensive outpatient program in addition to seeing their prescriber.
